As college students, we have a lot of things we need to study for. Whether it be exams, a paper with an upcoming deadline, a speech/presentation or even a simple quiz, students always need a place where we can go study.
Murray State has plenty of study spots, such as Waterfield Library or just outside on the benches around campus. Here are some highlights that many students visit regularly to review their notes and study with friends.
Hart College
Some people prefer a quiet place with a good study atmosphere, as not many people want to have their studying interrupted by some random noise. For that reason, many people go to Hart College’s lobby.
Sarah Plank, sophomore pre-vet/vet tech major, said Hart is where she always goes to study.
“(I like) Hart lobby, because it always has something going on, it has a peaceful ambience and always is a nice place to be,” Plank said.
Waterfield Library
Hart’s lobby isn’t the only cozy place on campus for studying. The libraries around campus are always nice places to go to.
Waterfield, in particular, has special rooms on each floor specifically for studying quietly. There are focus rooms where, if you really need to study for something, you can sit completely undisturbed.
Gabriel Crass, freshman history major, said he enjoys the ambience of the second floor of the library.
Biology Building
The biology building can be another quiet study spots for students needing to study for quizzes and exams.
Jacob Fulcher, sophomore biology pre-med major, said he visits the bottom floor of Waterfield Library to study. He also said he recommended the fourth floor of the biology building as another good study spot. The area around the biology building, as well as the surrounding buildings around it, are very spacious and have plenty of study areas to choose from.
Curris Center
However, if you’re looking for a place to get a bite to eat while studying, the Curris Center has plenty of options for studying and snacking.
From Chick-fil-A to Starbucks and the signature Thoroughbred room, you’ll definitely find something to munch on while catching up on notes. The Curris Center also has a bookstore with all kinds of goods and services, so if you’re ever low on supplies, you know where to go.
At Murray State, there’s always a guarantee that you’ll be busy, and because of that, you’ll always need a place to read, write or whatever it is you need to do for your classes. Luckily, there are no shortage of spots around campus where you can sit back and catch up. Pretty much every building has a place where you and maybe a few friends can go to work.
