Murray State University offers students a variety of resources to help them on their academic journey. These resources, whether academic or personal related, are led by a caring group of individuals ready to assist students and answer any questions. 

Racer Writing Center

The Racer Writing Center helps students become more effective and successful writers. All consultants are students who help with researching, citing sources, idea generation and more. Sessions last up to 40 minutes and can be in-person, virtual or by phone. The Center also takes walk-ins or students can make an appointment online at lib.murraystate.edu/writingcenter. The Center is located on the first floor of Waterfield Library. For more information, email msu.racerwritingcenter@murraystate.edu.  

Racer Oral Communication Center 

The Racer Oral Communication Center is a free resource for University students, faculty and staff. The Communication Center provides feedback and assistance about presentations. Consultants can help individuals develop strategies for dealing with public speaking anxiety, develop effective slides, support your ideas with strong research and more. Sessions last up to 30 minutes. Appointments can be made in-person on the first floor of Waterfield Library, online at https://lib.murraystate.edu/comcenter/home or email msu.comcenter@murraystate.edu.

Career Services

Career Services offers students a number of opportunities while attending Murray State. From career fairs and resume help to headshots and free professional clothing, Career Services is available to help students start their career on the right foot. Center for Student Engagement and Success 

The Center for Student Engagement and Success (CSES) is focused on empowering students during their time at Murray State. They support students’ transition to college by helping them develop successful academic habits, create connections with faculty and staff and explore campus resources. CSES advises undeclared students and provides assistance for first-generation college students. For more information, email msu.success@murraystate.edu.

Student Disability Services 

Student Disability Services (SDS) works to provide students with disabilities accommodations and services to ensure they have a positive college experience. These disabilities can include – but are not limited to – cognitive disabilities, mental/emotional disorders, seizure disorders, autism, sensory disorders, mobility impairments and other physical or health impairments. The SDS provides students with a quiet, distraction-free environment to take exams with extra time if needed.
